Mitch McConnell's version of justice prevails at the Supreme Court

Share story

Perhaps more than anyone, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is responsible for moving the U.S. Supreme Court to the right. By blocking President Obama’s high court nominee, Merrick Garland, he opened the way for President Trump to appoint Neil Gorsuch. Now, instead of delay, McConnell has vowed to rush through confirmation of a replacement for retiring Justice Anthony Kennedy. Like Gorsuch, the new nominee is certain to be someone pleasing to conservatives. No matter what happens in future presidential and congressional elections, the court is likely to be driven by a right wing perspective for decades to come, thanks to McConnell.
