Tuesday is Equal Pay Day, and The Seattle Times is asking readers to share their thoughts.

Business leaders and public officials are marking Equal Pay Day by renewing the call for closing the gap in average salaries between men and women.

President Obama called on Congress to pass legislation that would require companies to show that pay discrepancies are not based on gender. In Seattle, various groups held a bake sale at Westlake Park to raise awareness of the pay gap.

Meanwhile, a study released Tuesday by the online service Hired suggests the gap may be narrowing among younger tech workers as women entering these fields set higher salary expectations.

What are your thoughts on equal pay? Are there any steps that business leaders or public officials should take to narrow the gap?
