I must have missed the part that the Seattle City Council is going to reimburse landlords for the rent they lose when they can’t evict tenants for missing rent payments or violating certain lease terms from Dec. 1 to March 1.
Evictions take a few months to get nonpaying tenants removed, so a landlord with a mortgage could fall five to six months behind on his mortgage since no rent is coming in and either ruin his or her credit or have foreclosure papers served on them and lose their property.
What is the City Council planning to do for the landlords if this happens? This law could ruin people who have worked and saved enough to buy a rental property, such as my family.
