I moved to Washington state 2 ½ years ago from Minnesota. In my opinion, the voting process here is fantastic.

To sit at the kitchen table, consider the ballot, get information on all candidates, talk it over and then vote by mail or drop box is so much easier than standing in a line (sometimes outside in Minnesota November weather) at your polling place.

Yet the Minnesota voter turnout in 2016 was 74 percent. I don’t know why Washington’s voter participation was so low but surely it can’t be blamed on the process.
