The Times’ low opinion of voters’ ability to make sound judgments on ballot measures is once again on full display [“Voter initiatives need to include funding balance,” Opinion, Jan. 26]. Leaving budget-related decisions solely to the discretion of politicians in Olympia is not always the best answer.
I did not support Initiative 1351 for many of the same reasons as The Times. I also have not supported most of Tim Eyman’s initiatives. However, I would never support disenfranchising the voters simply because my side lost. That sounds dangerously undemocratic to me.
