Facing the threat of war in 1938 because of Hitler’s insistence that Czechoslovakia hand over its Sudeten region to Germany, the UK prime minister gave into his demand, justifying his action as “peace in our time.”
Later, Hitler seized all of Czechoslovakia.
Trump is now repeating history, by wanting peace in our time by letting Russia keep the territory it has already seized from Ukraine. Following the behavior usual for dictators, Putin would have the opportunity to seize the whole country.
I doubt that Trump is aware of this historic precedent. He probably never reads history (nor the Bible, the Constitution, etc.).
