The mayor’s call for more police officers brings to light another of the “unintended consequences” of Seattle’s manic drive to be viewed as a “world-class city.”
However, the truth of the matter is it is disingenuous to label them as “unintended.” Â Anyone with an ounce of common sense would have known that if you encouraged the level and rate of growth that has occurred in Seattle without adequate planning, you were going to end up with the mess the city now “enjoys.”
Now we get to enjoy “world class” traffic congestion, crime and housing costs. And rest assured, these are not temporary conditions, we are going to be living with them permanently. You gotta love unbridled ambition.
