The new year brings a fresh hope for the future and a promise of things to come. Many people start by making resolutions, or changing old habits. Sadly, most of these new plans do not last very long. But there are two resolutions that we all can follow that do not involve a credit card or joining a gym.
One: Donate blood; there is always a need. Two: Sign up to be an organ donor on your driver’s license. Speaking to your family and friends about organ donations starts a conversation about helping others. People may also choose to be a living donor of a kidney or liver.
My daughter lives and works in Bellevue. She suffers from an autoimmune disease and is needing a kidney in the next year or two, so as a mother, 2020 brings on a resolution of how to spread the word for blood donations, organ transplants and educating the public.
