The people spending the winter protesting at the Malheur refuge in Oregon can just be let alone [“Feds choose to wait out armed Oregon protest,” Page One, Jan. 5]. When spring comes and the bird migration starts, the bird-watchers will arrive en masse.

Nothing gets between a birder and the bird that they might spot. If a rare bird flies in, woe to anyone who might get between that bird and the birder. They could get trampled.

Malheur belongs to those birders, so protesters beware.
