The article about light-rail crowding [“Riders learn the light-rail squeeze,” Local News, Aug. 8] mentions and shows people on the trains, but does not show luggage. Please remember that these trains serve the airport and air passengers carry luggage. The trains have limited luggage areas, so suitcases use floor space that would otherwise be used by people.
Luggage adds to the crowding but is not counted by the trains’ passenger-counting system. When deciding when to add additional cars, Sound Transit must include luggage in calculations. When it orders new cars, it might want to consider including luggage racks.
