The pro and con Op-Eds on the Janus ruling missed the point [“Janus ruling empowers public employees,” “Janus ruling threatens pay, benefits for all workers”].
Now that public-sector employees are not required to pay union dues, those who opt out should no longer be covered by the collective bargaining agreements. They should have to negotiate their salary and benefits individually.
Let’s see how well they fare compared to those who are covered by collective bargaining.
