I used to drive from Seattle to Portland. The problem wasn’t usually the bridge but the narrow right of way north of Portland. A new bridge will not help that.

Why not extend Interstate 405 from Portland, and use Highway 30 and connect somewhere between Vancouver and Longview. I have never heard this proposed, and it makes total sense.
