If Initiative 135 is defeated in the Feb. 14 special election, that outcome, at best, won’t be helpful and, at worst, it will be misleading. Policymakers might respond to a no vote by tossing out the concept when the majority of no votes might have been primarily due to the lack of clearly delineated funding.
A yes vote, on the other hand, means that Seattle voters approve of the concept, which will provide a clear mandate to secure funding.
