When one door closes, another one opens. I think our sister state to the south may have just opened up a door for residents of Washington and Oregon.

California legislators are working to find a way to offer a single-payer health-care option for the state’s 35 million residents. Their hard work in that regard may just provide Washingtonians with another option. Given that the federal government, under the American Health Care Act, would compel states to take charge of their own health-care needs, I believe that Washington voters should consider forming a West Coast Healthcare Consortium comprised of Washington, Oregon and California. By pooling our diverse populations, it may be possible to reduce costs and provide the kinds of services that we need.

Please consider this notion, and contact your state representative to see if we can’t come up with a viable solution to meet our health-care needs.
