I want to thank Washington’s U.S. Sens. Maria Cantwell and Patty Murray for helping to temporarily end the government shutdown and especially for funding the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP). I know they’re getting a lot of anger from liberal constituents, and I want them to know that this liberal constituent appreciates their efforts.
Having said that, we absolutely need a solution to the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) issue. I am married to a naturalized citizen, so for me and my family this is personal and of paramount importance. If the Republicans don’t come to the table and negotiate a reasonable solution, I am fully supportive of another government shutdown in February. Please, senators, do whatever it takes to advocate for our immigrants. You are all they have now, and we are all counting on your perseverance and moral courage to preserve their future in this country.
