Here is a case where the cure may be worse than the illness. Last summer I was pleasantly surprised how efficiently and quickly we moved from being stopped in line by Lincoln Park to being identified by destination before the toll booth to clearing the toll booth and waiting for the ferry on the old dock.
We had a little time to visit in the car, exchanged a very few words with two friendly workers, then had a chance to stretch our legs and enjoy the view while on the dock. This part of West Seattle is lovely and a tiny remaining part of old Seattle. Please don’t try to fix it.
So what if the ferry is half-empty; it is holding as many cars as it needs. Everyone, take a deep breath and relax. You’ll get there in good order and have a few minutes to watch the world go by.
