Witnessing this week’s events honoring the life of George H.W. Bush served as a reminder of the essence of what this holiday season is supposed to be about: Peace on Earth, goodwill toward men.
I felt a kinship with the Bush family, not unlike the love and camaraderie I grew up with in my own family. It was a magical time, where familial joys were the remedy of emerging sorrows.
Today, we are experiencing hatred and derision based on difference of opinion. My hope is that the message of this week helps us garner what has been misplaced, not lost: dignity and respect for our fellow man.
