Re: “When Alaska flight 1282’s side blew open, a mother acted quickly to protect her son” [Jan. 9, A1]:

Appreciation to The Seattle Times for bringing those terrifying moments in the MAX 9 to life as the Oregon mother and her seatmate worked to save her son and her wish to make her full experience known after Alaska’s initial statement.

When I saw The Seattle Times headline of just a few days ago, “Over pilots’ objection, Boeing seeks MAX 7 safety exemption from FAA” [Jan. 5, A1], I thought of their MAX 737. And now this.

I understand how important Boeing is to Seattle’s economy, but it’s not just the planes that need close examination, it is also Boeing’s entire leadership. Hubris can turn deadly.
