I’m writing from Friday Harbor to express concern about the lack of affordable housing in the San Juan Islands.
Many local workers — teachers, nurses, service staff — struggle to find places to live because so many homes are now vacation rentals. This is hurting our community. Businesses can’t keep staff, and families are being pushed out. We need stronger rules for short-term rentals and more affordable housing support before the situation worsens.
