Best Thomas Friedman column ever [“Dump GOP for Grand New Party,” Opinion, June 9]. I sincerely hope this happens.
The Democratic Party could use an overhaul, too. Actually, since political parties aren’t part of the Constitution, let’s just start over, rethink the whole structure. And let’s never go through this insane nominating process again. The country’s spending two of every four years on this madness.
Back to the column: Of the potential names he proposed (Grand New Party or New Republican Party) I imagine GNP would probably have a more familiar and pleasing ring to the Old Guard.
