If you’re trying to inject a little more of the religious reason for the season this Christmas, check out these gifts with spiritual overtones.

The Giving Manger ($40 at thegivingmanger.com). A sweet wooden manger comes with a bundle of straw and a sculptural baby Jesus. Each day, kids can add a piece of straw to the manger, culminating with placing the baby on top on Christmas morning. A storybook explaining the tradition is also included.

World Vision One Cup Coffee Co. Organic Coffee Blend ($85 at donate.worldvision.org). Make a donation to the Christian-based charity based in Federal Way and have a great gift to hand over, at the same time. Not only do they get a bag of fair-trade whole-bean coffee and a coffee scoop/bag clip handmade by artisans in India, but they also support World Vision’s work aiding impoverished children and families around the globe.

“The Story of Christmas” ($10 at booksellers). Are the kids more focused on gifts, gifts, gifts than the deeper meaning of Christmas? Helen Dardik’s sturdy board book helps even the youngest tots understand the nativity story with simple copy and gorgeous artwork.
