Lovable monsters introduce real-life bridges and local color of the Pacific Northwest in "Monsters Under Bridges."

If your little monsters love the Fremont Troll, wait until they learn about Irving the Noble Vegetarian in Astoria, Ore., and El Decepíon on Whidbey Island.

These non-scary monsters are included in the Pacific Northwest edition of “Monsters Under Bridges,” from Seattle publisher Sasquatch Books.

The hardcover picture book by Portland elementary school teacher Rachel Roellke Coddington and illustrated by Jolby (Josh Kenyon and Colby Nichols), features lovable, misunderstood monsters. The whimsical creatures are pure fun as they introduce the bridges and local color of our region.

Irving, for example, lives under the Astoria-Megler Bridge, is “as big as a bounce house,” and only eats local, organic vegetables (of course).
