Beauty products that help you look great no matter how much makeup you put on (or don’t).

If you hate makeup, I can relate. Getting up in the morning and commuting to the office doesn’t exactly inspire a full face.

Skin care is more my bag, so I make it my job (literally) to find products to make my face even, dewy and toned sans makeup.

Here are some of my favorite beauty products that do a ton of heavy lifting. Think brightening, hydrating, balancing and subtly shimmery, to look great no matter how much makeup you put on (or don’t!).

Herbivore Lapis Oil Balancing Facial Oil ($26–$72). Those with combination or oily skin often feel like they can’t use facial oils. Not so. This Seattle-made blend of natural oils offers balanced hydration without clogging your pores. It reduces redness, clarifies and absorbs super easily.

French Girl Organics Floral Toner ($18–$32). Using a mixture of floral extracts and hyaluronic acid, this all-natural, Seattle-made toner moisturizes like no other.

It Cosmetics Vitality Flush Stain Stick Lip & Cheek Reviver ($30 at Ulta). Try this multipurpose formula for a naturally pretty flush on both your lips and cheeks. It’s a clear balm that self-adjusts to add a rosy glow to your complexion.

Nuxe Multi-Usage Dry Oil Shimmer ($54 at This iridescent formula includes six essential oils and can be used on your face, body and hair for a glinty, gorgeous (but sophisticated) vibe. It’s a way to dress up your skin without having to deal with foundation or contouring.

RMS Beauty Living Luminizer ($38 at This is the easiest, most non-makeup makeup product out there. It’s a creamy, light-reflecting highlighter that blurs and shimmers in all the right places. I tap it onto my cheekbones to strobe, the middle of my eyelids to brighten, and right above my cupid’s bow to plump up my lips.

Skinceuticals C E Ferulic ($163 at Three drops of this vitamin C, E and ferulic acid serum and your face will glow. It’s expensive, but I’ve never used a more effective skincare product.

Tom Ford Santal Blush Eau de Parfum ($225 at Sephora). Sometimes all you need to feel fancier, or sultrier, is a signature fragrance. This one is mine — a warm mix of sandalwood, spice and a little bit of floral — everything you need to feel sexy and put together sans makeup.
