MERCER ISLAND — This weekend marks the grand opening of the Symphony Collection, a blend of two new homes and one landmark residence.

Built by JayMarc Homes, the collection includes the existing Symphony House, as well as the Mozart and the Chopin. Festivities begin at 11 a.m. today and Sunday.

The original Symphony House was built in 1910 and is considered to be the oldest home on Mercer Island.

The wood-and-stucco residence has been renovated, updated and restored, and includes nearly 6,000 square feet of living space, five bedrooms, two bathrooms and two powder rooms.

The four-house displays craftsmanship of the period, including hardwood oak paneling from Siberia and leaded glass windows from Vienna.

Aimee Upper, JayMarc Homes’ interior designer, says her team took great care throughout the restoration to stay true to the original character of the house so that as much as possible was preserved.

“We wanted to give the home a cohesive look while maintaining the original character,” she says.

The renovated kitchen includes Wolf and Sub-Zero appliances and granite countertops, as well as an expanded opening to the dining room to create a more cohesive flow between the spaces.

Heated flooring and marble countertops were added in the master bath, and powder rooms were added on the main floor and the basement level. A two-car garage was also built.

“Our overall goal was to address the needs and wants of the modern-day family while remaining true to the original character,” says Upper.

Those who visit the Symphony House will be among the first to be able to purchase the Mozart or the Chopin, new-construction homes that are being built next door in the image and likeness of the original.

The two new homes measure more than 4,000 square feet and are priced from the mid-$2.5 millions. The interiors are designed to take advantage of Lake Washington views, says Upper.
