If the thought of Christmas shopping does everything but fill you with holiday cheer, consider turning that humdrum shopping trip into an adventure north of the border. Surrey, British Columbia, offers something for every kind of shopper and holiday gift-giver. Whether you’re the ultimate interior designer stocking up on Christmas ornaments, practicing a little self love with the gifts only you know you really want, or you just love giving gifts and search tirelessly for the perfect pick, there really is something for everyone. Here are four solid reasons to head to Surrey.

Holiday extravaganza

If it’s a shopping experience you’re after, then there’s one place in Surrey you won’t want to miss. Potters Nursery is British Columbia’s largest farm and garden center, with four locations throughout Surrey. But there’s much more to this quaint little shop than perennials and potting mix. The folks at Potters Nursery are seriously into the holidays, and it shows the second you walk through their doors.

Every fall, B.C.’s merriest and busiest elves prepare Potters Nurseries for over nine bustling weeks, decorating its 28,000 square-foot space with all things Christmas. Santa’s workshop is readied, the lights in Mr. and Mrs. Claus’ House are turned on, and Western Canada’s largest Christmas store throws open its doors. The store’s themed rooms are packed with colorful ornaments, wreaths, garlands and twinkling Christmas lighting.

Potters’ buyers have shopped the world, looking for items with holiday “wow” factor. This is the place for hitting the unique gift jackpot. Whether you’re looking for fun stocking stuffers like decks of cards featuring superheroes, fishing- or equestrian-related baubles for the tree, the ultimate pair of gardening gloves for your green-thumbed relative – or gifts like ice-cream mugs that make ice cream in three minutes, a battery-operated train in a tin, and adult coloring books to soothe the soul – you’ll find something for everyone on your list.
