'I love my car because ... I am the third-generation owner.'

Owner: Erik Mjelde, Burien

Occupation: Builder/contractor

Car’s make and model: 1968 Buick Skylark

“I love my car because … I am the third-generation owner. My grandmother Edna Mjelde bought it brand new from Huling Brothers in West Seattle. She ordered accessories like an electric bench seat and A/C, as well as seat belts. [When] my father, Dale (pictured left), took ownership … he stripped it and changed the color. The interior is 100 percent original and flawless. Dad drove it very little, mostly to Buick car shows, where it still fairs well today. I took ownership of it several years ago and have upgraded most of the mechanical to keep it running for years to come. I drive it as much as I can. There is something hard to describe being behind the wheel of a family car. Still has the original Huling Brothers license plate frames on her. She is a blast to drive!”
