TACOMA — Felix Hernandez struck out four in two hitless innings of relief, helping the Tacoma Rainiers beat Portland 4-3 in a Pacific Coast League baseball game before 5,599 at Cheney Stadium last night.


Hernandez (9-4), recovering from bursitis in his right shoulder, got the victory in relief of starter Damian Moss, who left after six innings with the score tied 3-3.


Jamal Strong beat out a one-out infield single in the eighth and scored the tie-breaking run on Shin-Soo Choo’s RBI double to left. Strong also homered and Choo also tripled for the Rainiers.


Masao Kida pitched a scoreless ninth for his 14th save.
