Dear Seattle-area readers: Love is so much closer than most “single and searching” people can possibly imagine, but too many of these single and searching are too afraid to take The Risk that can lead to love. Fear no more! The fourth annual Rejection Awareness Week (RAW) is coming Feb. 7-14 and I need your help.
For those unfamiliar with RAW, this annual event is not about rejection, it’s all about overcoming fears and taking the risks that lead to love. To give singles in Seattle and elsewhere in Washington state that nudge to take The Risk this Valentine’s season, I’m asking you to share your stories to validate what we know to be true — that love is just down the street, around the corner or a few mouse clicks away.
Here’s what I need:
• A brief description of your love life before taking The Risk.
• Where you took The Risk. Be specific (for example, at Julia’s on Broadway in Seattle on a sunny Tuesday afternoon).
• How The Risk unfolded.
• Who said what?
• The final result.
Share all the details! Send your stories to Harlan@helpmeharlan.com, Subject: RAW 2006 Seattle Times. Include your name and contact number. The deadline is Jan. 18. I may choose your story (and you) to appear in The Seattle Times to help kick off RAW 2006.
