Cornish Dance | “Beneath Our Own Immensity”

Cornish College of the Arts dancers move in slow motion during “Beneath Our Own Immensity,” a performance piece in the I-5 Colonnade Park Saturday before moving into the rest of the immense space below the Interstate highway taking dance to the people.

Dancers kick up dust as they perform “Beneath Our Own Immensity” in Colonnade Park beneath I-5 Saturday. The art performance lasts about 40-minutes and will take place again Sunday at 1 p.m.

Cornish College dancers used much of the space under I-5 in Colonnade Park Saturday to perform “Beneath Our Own Immensity,” an interpretative site-specific piece Saturday.

Spectators who came to “Beneath Our Own Immensity,” a performance art piece by Cornish College of the Arts, follow the dancers as they move through I-5 Colonnade Park.

Cornish College dancers Matthew Drews and Ali Maricich utilize spaces in I-5 Colonnade Park on Saturday generally used by skateboarders.

Cornish College of the Arts dancers move silently with only the sound of the freeway above as they perform “Beneath Our Own Immensity,” a site-specific piece in I-5 Colonnade Park on Saturday.

I-5 Colonnade Park is more often home to skateboarders than an audience for performance art, but on Saturday Cornish College performed a site-specific piece, “Beneath Our Own Immensity”.

Sarah Butler moved down a path below I-5 in Colonnade Park as “Beneath Our Own Immensity” nears completion. The 40-minute performance will repeat Sunday at 1 p.m.
