BOXFORD, Mass. (AP) — A woman has been seriously injured in a crash involving three vehicles that briefly shut down Interstate 95 in Massachusetts.

State Police say a woman driving northbound crossed the median into opposing traffic in Boxford around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday and sideswiped one car before colliding with another head-on.

The woman was flown to Boston Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. The driver of the car she collided with and a passenger in the sideswiped car suffered minor injuries.

All lanes of I-95 were closed on both directions while a medical helicopter landed to transport the woman. All lanes were reopened shortly after 4 p.m.

Police are investigating what caused the woman’s car to cross into opposing traffic. The case is being handled by State Police.
