GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) — A major interstate that runs along the eastern border of North Dakota has reopened after deteriorating road conditions closed it earlier.

North Dakota transportation officials and the Highway Patrol have opened Interstate 29 from Fargo to the Canadian border. A winter storm with blowing and drifting snow had reduced visibility to near zero.

A travel alert issued for the remainder of the state has also been lifted.
