SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) — A Winooski man is facing charges of using counterfeit money while buying gas at a station in South Burlington.

Police say 33-year-old David Berard bought gas on two occasions and paid for it with fake dollar bills.

WCAX-TV reports he bought a small amount of gas with a counterfeit $100 bill so he could get a large amount of cash in change.

Police say they identified Berard through surveillance video.

He has been cited to appear in court on March 13 on two counts of counterfeiting. Berard could not be reached for comment; there was no phone listing in his name.
