CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (AP) — Meals from the Heartland, of West Des Moines, will host its first Cedar Rapids Hunger Fight next month.

The event will be held May 4-5 at the DoubleTree Hotel Cedar Rapids Convention Complex.

Meals from the Heartland director Susan Bunz says the event will bring hundreds of volunteers together to package thousands of meals “for those around the world who face hunger every day — including those living in Cedar Rapids.”

The event’s goal is to package 250,000 meals. Registration to volunteer is now open.
