GULFPORT, Miss. (AP) — Officials have confirmed the identity of the victim in a shooting in Mississippi.
News outlets reported Saturday that Harrison County Coroner Gary Hargrove confirmed the identity of the shooting victim as 16-year-old Damien Thompson Jr. Hargrove said an official cause of death will be released pending the autopsy.
Gulfport police said on Twitter that officers responded to the 4000 block of Ponderosa Drive at about 10:30 a.m. Saturday after a report of a man suffering from a gunshot wound.
Police said that the victim had died of his injuries. The investigation is ongoing.
