BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (AP) — An upstate New York man has been sentenced for leaving the scene of an accident that killed a college student from New York City.
The Press & Sun-Bulletin reports (http://press.sn/2fG4haJ ) 26-year-old Aizaz Siddiqu was sentenced Thursday in Binghamton City Court to three years’ probation and 60 days working weekends in the Broome County Jail.
Authorities say Siddiqu was driving on a Binghamton road early last Dec. 3 when he struck 20-year-old Stefani Lineva, of Queens. Police say the Binghamton University student had been drinking that night and was lying in the road when she was struck along a section that was prohibited for pedestrian use.
Siddiqui fled the scene without contacting police.
