OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — Two months after violence erupted in Charlottesville, Virginia, during a protest attended largely by white supremacists, a lecture at the University of Nebraska at Omaha will attempt to look at what happened.
The 2017 Rabbi Sidney and Jane Brooks Lecture, titled “Violence, White Supremacy, and #Charlottesville: Can We Learn Anything From The Ethics of War?,” will be held Tuesday in the Barbara Weitz Community Engagement Center.
Laura Alexander teaches religious studies at UNO and is the Goldstein Family Community Chair in Human Rights. She will discuss the violence that erupted Aug. 11 and 12 during a rally purported to protest the impending removal of a Confederate statue, and whether the violence was sanctioned or unsanctioned.
