LAS VEGAS (AP) — Police say they’re increasing patrols at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas after a student was assaulted on campus.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports the woman was walking through a parking lot near the university’s tennis complex Thursday evening when she was approached by man.

University police say the unknown man grabbed the student, and she used her backpack to fight him off.

Police say the white man was described as thin with dark, shaggy hair. He was wearing a green down jacket.

Police are urging students and employees to be aware of their surroundings and to travel in groups.

University police detectives are investigating the assault.
