An emotional President Barack Obama announced new gun-control executive actions on Tuesday at a White House news conference.
Reaction to the president’s actions, both on Monday in advance of the news conference and on Tuesday afterward, was fast and furious. Some hailed the measures as a step in the right direction, while others lambasted the president for attacking the Second Amendment.
In the comments on this site, that spectrum was clear:
From commenter “I’disagree”: “Obama’s plan does nothing to curb the number of illegal guns sold, stolen, traded and used by criminals.”
And from “M from Ferndale”: “Congress has failed to act, partly because of the perceived political power of the NRA. National polls demonstrate that most of us want more and better gun control. I appreciate his leadership on this issue.”
