RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — A North Carolina-based company with a rice-packaging technique for sushi rolls plans 305 new jobs in the state over three years by expanding operations.
Gov. Roy Cooper announced Thursday that RiceWrap Foods Corp. would invest $10 million in a facility in Butner, 30 miles (48 kilometers) north of Raleigh.
The company could get $2.6 million in state incentives, with most contingent on meeting job-creation, pay and investment goals. Local governments are providing $430,000.
Raleigh-based RiceWrap produces frozen sushi rice sheets that can be ready to roll quickly. Company clients include Whole Foods, universities, hotels and caterers. Tuna giant Bumble Bee Seafoods recently invested in RiceWrap, which will also package fish and other sushi components for retail sale.

The state Commerce Department says Martinsville, Virginia, also offered incentives for the plant.
