HARDWICK, N.J. (AP) — The search has continued over the Memorial Day weekend for a 39-year-old man missing since his canoe capsized in the Delaware River.
The National Park Service says the man and a woman went into the water at about 3 p.m. Friday near the Route 80 bridge in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area.
The woman was rescued by park visitors and taken to a hospital, where an update on her condition wasn’t available. Authorities said neither person was wearing a life jacket.
Rescue crews searched over the weekend and on Memorial Day. Park service spokeswoman Kathleen Sandt said crews will search as long as weather allows although conditions are less than ideal with the river “still running high and fast” and water temperatures in the 60s with poor visibility.
