DAVENPORT, Iowa (AP) — A man who escaped from a Davenport re-entry center less than five months from his scheduled release from federal custody has been sentenced to 22 more months in prison.
Prosecutors say 24-year-old Darrell Rice, of Davenport, was sentenced Friday in U.S. District Court in Davenport.
He’d been given 70 months in prison in 2012 after an arson conviction. He was transferred in December 2016 to Davenport Residential Re-Entry Center to serve the rest of his federal sentence. He was to be freed on June 1, 2017.
But he fled the center on Feb. 6 last year and removed the tracking device he was wearing. He was arrested on state drug charges on April 19.
