For only the third time since the early 1940s when records started being kept at the Portland International Airport, Portland has hit 100 degrees in September.

As of 3:26 p.m. Thursday, the temperature at PDX was 101 degrees, tying the daily record, set on Sept. 5, 1944.

It is unlikely, however, that the city will set a high record for the month.

The current all-time September high temperature was set on Sept. 2, 1988, when it hit 105.

Thursday’s hot weather was expected to continue into Friday, when the National Weather Service was predicting a high of around 99 degrees in Portland.

Portland also remained under an air quality advisory through Friday.
