FAIRFAX, Vt. (AP) — Police in Vermont say heavy snow was a factor in a crash that killed a 16-year-old driver.

Police said the teen, Ada Sorensen, of Fairfax, was traveling north on Route 104 in Fairfax early Friday when she lost traction and control of her vehicle.

She traveled into oncoming traffic and collided with a pickup truck driven by 54-year-old Paul Bowler, of St. Albans, who tried to pull over.

Sorensen died at the scene, and Bowler suffered minor injuries. Police said Sorensen was a student at Bellows Free Academy in St. Albans.

This crash remains under investigation.
