PLEASANT HILL, Calif. (AP) — Police have arrested a man who led authorities on a high-speed chase across the Bay Bridge in San Francisco.

KTVU-TV reports that the man was driving a van early Tuesday that barreled through a construction zone on the Bay Bridge, which connects San Francisco to Oakland, and nearly hit workers and a California Highway Patrol car.

The incident occurred about 1 a.m. Tuesday.

CHP Sgt. Jay Brazil said the driver refused to pull over and led officers on a chase along several highways reaching speeds of up to 90 miles per hour.

The chase came to an end when the driver turned onto a dead-end street in Pleasant Hill, more than 20 miles from the Bay Bridge.

Police pulled the man from the car, using a Taser, and arrested him.
