DOVER, Del. (AP) — Authorities say a Delaware couple has been arrested after showing up at a school angrily wanting to know why their son, who was on a field trip they had approved, had not returned home.

Dover police say 26-year-old Nathaniel Hampton and 33-year-old Vanessa Alston appeared at William Henry Middle School Tuesday afternoon shouting profanities, and that Alston made threats to kill.

Once the couple was in custody, school officials confirmed that their son was returning from an out-of-state field trip to which the parents had consented.

Hampton and Alston were charged with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and public intoxication. Hampton also was charged with possession of marijuana, while Alston was charged with terroristic threatening.

It was not immediately clear whether the two, who were released on bond, have a lawyer.
