CORINNA, Maine (AP) — Authorities in Maine say a man was killed in a snowmobile crash over the weekend.
WGME-TV reports the crash happened on a trail in Corinna on Friday. Maine wardens say 44-year-old Jeffrey Wiley, of Sangerville, was killed when he struck a tree. Authorities say another snowmobiler riding with Wiley reported the crash.
Wardens say the crash was caused by excessive speed.
Game Warden Lt. Dan Scott says heavy rains and freezing temperatures have created an icy base on many trails. Scott says riders should be aware of icy conditions that require a longer stopping distance.
