WINCHESTER, N.H. (AP) — Fish and Game officers say an all-terrain vehicle rider’s helmet may have saved his life when he crashed and suffered injuries in New Hampshire’s Pisgah State Park.

Conservation officers say 40-year-old Raymond LaBlanc, of Hinsdale, New Hampshire, was traveling in the Winchester park Wednesday when his front suspension failed. He was thrown from the ATV. He suffered serious, but non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital.

Officers say it appears that excessive speed may have been a factor in the crash. The accident is under investigation.
