LAGUNA NIGUEL, Calif. (AP) — A man suspected in a DUI hit-and-run crash that seriously injured a bicyclist on Super Bowl Sunday 2017 was arrested the morning of the big game this year.
Orange County sheriff’s officials say investigators determined Timothy Cronin is a New England Patriots fan and they wanted to keep him off the road on the day his team was playing.
An arrest warrant was issued Friday. Cronin was taken into custody at his home Sunday on suspicion of felony hit-and-run and driving under the influence. It wasn’t immediately known if he has an attorney.
The Orange County Register reports detectives believe Cronin was drunk-driving home from a Super Bowl party on Feb. 5, 2017 when he struck a bicyclist and sped away. The victim suffered severe blunt-force trauma injuries.
