CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — Gov. Jim Justice has appointed a teacher to the House of Delegates to fill a seat recently vacated by a legislator he appointed to a state Senate vacancy.

Justice’s choice for the 31st District 9 seat is Chanda Adkins of Raleigh County.

Adkins, a licensed pharmacist, is a substitute teacher and coach at Greater Beckley Christian School.

She lives in Beckley with her husband and their two children.

She replaces Karen Lynne Arvon of Beckley who was named to the Senate seat representing a swatch of southern West Virginia.

That followed the resignation of Sen. Jeff Mullins, who cited business and family obligations.
