NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — A new scholarship in honor of a recently deceased Tennessee reporter will support journalism students at Tennessee State University.
The Tennessean reports that the scholarship in honor of its former longtime business reporter, Getahn Ward, is a partnership with the National Association of Black Journalists, the Gannett Foundation and others in the community.
The goal of the scholarship is to raise at least $50,000 to be awarded in perpetuity. Donations can be made online .
Ward died on Dec. 16 at his Nashville home after a brief illness. He was 45.
